Jigs can be a tricky topic. It’s common to hear jigs overly promoted and overly derided. No they aren’t always as useful or foolproof as touted and no, they aren’t a replacement for skill. I try to remember that just about everything in the workshop is a jig. Bench vise…jig…handplane…jig, bit and brace…jig…table saw…jig... So to sidestep this, my brain went to calling the fixture for making drill bits a “rig”.
